The ITSSAR-accredited Overhead Gantry Crane Training course delivered by SID Training is provided exclusively on-site at your premises, allowing operatives to train within a real working environment using your lifting equipment and operational setup. This training aligns closely with other essential programs like forklift training and HGV training, ensuring a comprehensive approach to lifting operations.

Overhead gantry cranes are widely used within manufacturing, engineering, warehouses, fabrication facilities, and industrial environments for safely lifting and moving heavy or awkward loads. To complement this, our training can easily incorporate principles from slinger signaller training, enhancing overall operational safety and efficiency.

This course combines both theoretical knowledge and practical training to ensure operatives understand safe lifting procedures, workplace responsibilities, and how to minimise risks during crane operations. Particular emphasis is placed on load control, safe lifting techniques, crane movements, signalling procedures, and maintaining safe working areas during lifting activities.

Operatives will also develop an understanding of lifting limitations, load stability, centre of gravity awareness, and the importance of carrying out lifting operations safely and efficiently. Pre-use inspections are covered in detail, allowing operators to identify faults, defects, or unsafe lifting equipment before use.

Training is delivered on the specific type of gantry crane used on your site, ensuring relevance to your operational environment and lifting activities. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognised across the UK and within industrial, manufacturing, and lifting sectors.

Throughout the course, delegates will develop a strong understanding of: Safe operation of overhead gantry cranes, operator responsibilities, and workplace safety awareness essential for various training programs, including forklift training and HGV training. Participants will learn daily pre-use inspections and fault reporting procedures, as well as safe lifting and load handling techniques crucial for effective slinger signaller training. The course also covers understanding load weights, balance, and the centre of gravity, along with the safe use of lifting accessories and attachments. Delegates will practice correct crane movements and load control procedures while gaining insights into communication and signalling techniques where applicable. Furthermore, the training emphasizes working safely around pedestrians, machinery, and workplace hazards, with a focus on end-of-shift procedures and the safe shutdown of equipment.

All candidates will complete both a theoretical test and a practical skills assessment at the end of the course related to forklift training, HGV training, and slinger signaller training. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, which is recognised across the UK and widely accepted within the industry.
