The ITSSAR-accredited MEWP certification courses offered by SID Training are delivered exclusively on-site at your premises in North Staffordshire. This allows operators to train using your own Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) within a real working environment.
Our training is tailored for either cherry pickers or scissor lifts, depending on the type of equipment utilized in your workplace.
Mobile Elevating Work Platforms are widely employed in construction, maintenance, warehousing, facilities management, and industrial settings where safe working at height is essential.
Successfully operating MEWPs necessitates a comprehensive understanding of safety protocols, stability, and hazard awareness, especially when working at elevation or in proximity to obstacles, pedestrians, and other machinery.
This course merges theoretical knowledge with practical training to ensure operators grasp safe operating procedures, workplace responsibilities, and strategies to minimize risks while working at height.
Emphasizing safe platform operation, emergency lowering protocols, stability principles, ground conditions, and the importance of maintaining safe distances from hazards such as structures, vehicles, and overhead obstructions is a priority.
Operators will also gain insights into safe maneuvering techniques, proper platform positioning, and safe practices while elevated.
Detailed training on pre-use inspections ensures that operators can identify faults and perform essential safety checks before operating the equipment.
Training is specific to the type of MEWP used on your site, and the certification will reflect the category of equipment on which the operator has been trained. Cherry pickers and scissor lifts are categorized separately and require distinct certifications.
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognized throughout the UK and within the construction, industrial, and maintenance sectors.
Throughout the MEWP certification courses, delegates will develop a strong understanding of: Safe operation of either cherry pickers or scissor lifts, operator responsibilities, and workplace safety awareness. Participants will also learn about daily pre-use inspections and fault reporting procedures, ensuring adherence to safe working at height and platform safety principles. Additionally, they will gain insight into understanding machine stability and safe ground conditions, as well as emergency lowering and emergency procedures. Safe manoeuvring and positioning of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) will be emphasized, along with the importance of working safely around pedestrians, vehicles, structures, and overhead hazards. Harness awareness and fall prevention measures will be covered where applicable, alongside end-of-shift procedures and the safe shutdown of equipment during the on-site training in North Staffordshire.
All candidates will complete both a theoretical test and a practical skills assessment at the end of the MEWP certification courses. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognized across the UK and widely accepted within the industry for Mobile Elevating Work Platforms. This training also includes options for on-site training in North Staffordshire.
