The ITSSAR-accredited Loading Shovel Training course delivered by SID Training is provided exclusively on-site at your premises, allowing operators to train using your own equipment within a real working environment. In addition to loading shovels, we also offer comprehensive Forklift Training and HGV Training to ensure that all aspects of material handling are covered.
Loading shovels are widely used across construction, waste management, aggregates, recycling, agriculture, and industrial environments for the movement and loading of materials. Given the size, power, and operating environments of this equipment, operators must have a strong understanding of safe operating procedures and machine control.
This course combines both theoretical knowledge and practical training to ensure operators understand workplace responsibilities, safe operating techniques, and how to minimise risks when handling and transporting materials, whether with loading shovels, forklifts, or HGVs.
Particular emphasis is placed on safe bucket operation, loading procedures, travelling safely across site, and maintaining stability whilst handling materials on varying ground conditions.
Operators will also learn safe manoeuvring techniques, awareness of blind spots, and how to work safely around pedestrians, vehicles, structures, and other site hazards.
Pre-use inspections are covered in detail, ensuring operators can identify faults and carry out essential safety checks before operating the equipment.
Training is delivered on the specific type of loading shovel used on your site, ensuring relevance to your working environment and operational requirements.
Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognised across the UK and within construction, industrial, and material handling sectors.
Throughout the course, delegates will develop a strong understanding of:
Safe operation of loading shovels, an essential skill that complements Forklift Training
Operator responsibilities and workplace safety awareness
Daily pre-use inspections and fault reporting procedures
Safe bucket operation and material handling techniques
Machine stability and safe travelling across varying ground conditions
Loading and unloading procedures, crucial for both Forklift and HGV Training
Safe manoeuvring in confined or active site environments
Awareness of blind spots and surrounding hazards
Working safely around pedestrians, vehicles, and structures
End-of-shift procedures and safe shutdown of equipment.
All candidates will complete both a theoretical test and a practical skills assessment at the end of the Forklift Training and HGV Training course. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognized across the UK and widely accepted within the industry.
