HGV and Forklift Training Courses

The ITSSAR-accredited Order Picker training course offered by SID Training is conducted exclusively on-site at your premises. This allows operators to train using your own equipment in a real working environment, significantly enhancing their skills. 

This training is designed for both Medium Level Order Pickers (MLOP) and High Level Order Pickers (HLOP), tailored to the specific equipment utilized within your workplace. Order pickers are essential tools in warehouse and distribution settings, enabling the efficient picking of stock at height. Operating this equipment requires a high degree of precision, awareness, and safety, particularly when handling tasks at elevation.

The course merges theoretical knowledge with practical training, ensuring delegates comprehend safe operating procedures, workplace responsibilities, and strategies to minimize risks associated with working at height. Special emphasis is placed on safe working at height, maintaining stability during elevation, and safe operation within narrow aisles and busy warehouse environments. Additionally, where applicable, operators will be instructed on harness use and safe working practices. 

Pre-use inspections of order pickers are discussed in detail, equipping operators to identify faults and conduct essential safety checks before operating the equipment. This thorough training approach is comparable to the rigorous standards found in forklift training courses, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of safety protocols in logistics. 

Training is specifically conducted on the type of order picker employed at your site, with certification granted for that category alone. Medium Level and High Level Order Pickers are distinct classifications and necessitate separate certification, similar to HGV certification criteria within the industry. 

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, widely recognized across the UK and within the warehousing and logistics sectors.

Throughout the forklift training courses, delegates will develop a strong understanding of: 

Safe operation of medium or high level order pickers (depending on equipment used) 

Operator responsibilities and workplace safety awareness 

Daily pre-use inspections and fault reporting procedures 

Safe working at height, including awareness of fall prevention measures 

Stability principles when elevating and lowering the platform 

Safe manoeuvring in narrow aisles and confined warehouse environments 

Correct picking procedures and safe handling of goods at height 

Working safely around pedestrians and other workplace hazards 

End-of-shift procedures and safe shutdown of equipment 

This training will ensure that all participants are well-prepared for HGV certification and effective Order Picker training.

All candidates will complete both a theoretical test and a practical skills assessment at the end of the forklift training courses. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognized across the UK and widely accepted within the industry, including for HGV certification and Order Picker training.
