At SID Training, we make gaining your Class 1 (Category C+E) licence as straightforward as possible. From your initial medical through to your practical driving test, our experienced team will support you every step of the way.

Whether you're completely new to HGV driving or upgrading from a Class 2 licence, we'll tailor your training to suit your experience, confidence, and ability.

Once you've completed your medical and passed your theory tests, we'll invite you to our Cotes Heath training centre for a free driving assessment.

This allows your instructor to assess your current driving ability and recommend the most suitable course length, ensuring your training is personalised and giving you the best possible chance of passing your practical test first time.

Typically 24–32 hours of practical training, depending on your previous driving experience and assessment.

If you already hold a Category C (Class 2) licence, courses typically range from 16–24 hours, depending on your experience and confidence.

Your practical driving test will usually take place on the final day of your course, typically on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Tests begin directly from our training centre in Cotes Heath, allowing you to train and test from the same familiar location.

Training is delivered in 4-hour driving sessions throughout the week.
