Free Driving Assessment:
Once you've completed your medical and passed your theory tests, we'll invite you to our Cotes Heath training centre for a free driving assessment related to your 7.5 tonne licence. This assessment allows your HGV instructor to evaluate your current driving ability and recommend the most suitable Category C1 training course length, ensuring your training is personalised and giving you the best possible chance of passing your practical test on the first attempt.
7.5 Tonne Category C1 Training
To obtain your 7.5 tonne licence, courses generally range from 12–24 hours of practical training, based on your previous driving experience, confidence, and driving assessment.
Practical Driving Test
Your practical driving test will typically occur on the final day of your category C1 training, often scheduled on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
Tests begin directly from our training centre in Cotes Heath, ensuring you can train and test from the same familiar location with our experienced HGV instructor.
Training sessions are conducted in 4-hour increments throughout the week.
