The ITSSAR-accredited Counterbalance Forklift Training course offered by SID Training is designed to equip operators with the essential knowledge, practical skills, and confidence needed to safely and effectively operate counterbalance lift trucks in various workplaces.
Counterbalance forklifts are among the most widely used equipment in the warehousing, logistics, construction, and manufacturing industries. Ensuring that operators receive proper counterbalance forklift training is not only a legal obligation but also crucial for maintaining a safe and productive working environment.
This course combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical training, allowing delegates to fully grasp how to operate equipment correctly, minimize risks, and adhere to current health and safety legislation, in compliance with ITSSAR-accredited courses.
At SID Training, we offer a variety of training options to cater to all levels of operator experience, including specialized counterbalance forklift training. Our programs are designed to ensure comprehensive skill development and compliance with industry standards:
Novice – Ideal for individuals with little or no prior experience. Duration: 5 days. Group Size: Maximum of 3 delegates.
Experienced Worker – Tailored for operators with relevant practical experience who lack formal certification. Duration: 2 days. Group Size: Maximum of 2 delegates.
Refresher – Aimed at qualified operators who need to renew their certification and maintain compliance. This includes ITSSAR-accredited courses. Duration: 1 day. Group Size: Maximum of 3 delegates.
Conversion – For operators already certified on one truck type transitioning to a counterbalance forklift. Duration: 2 days. Group Size: Maximum of 2 delegates.
Throughout the course, delegates will develop a strong understanding of:
- Safe operation of a counterbalance forklift truck
- Operator responsibilities and workplace safety awareness
- Daily pre-use inspections and fault reporting procedures
- Stability principles and the causes of truck and load instability
- Safe manoeuvring techniques in open and confined spaces
- Correct load handling, lifting, and stacking practices
- Loading and unloading vehicles safely
- Use of attachments where applicable
- End-of-shift procedures and safe shutdown of equipment
This counterbalance forklift training is tailored to ensure operators can confidently apply their skills in real working environments, giving them the expertise required for HGV training courses and meeting the standards set by ITSSAR-accredited courses.
All candidates will complete both a theoretical test and a practical skills assessment at the end of the course, including essential counterbalance forklift training. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, which is recognised across the UK and widely accepted within industry, similar to other HGV training courses.
